This afternoon saw our first ever outdoor Messy Church in the grounds of The Sanctuary. Fortunately the earlier rain clouds blew away and the sun was shining by 4pm.
We were looking at Paul’s journeys’ in the New Testament as he travelled around the Mediterranean to spread the news of God’s Love. Activities included making Megaphones (to spread the news), Boats (to travel in), Kites to catch the wind and painting a huge map of the Mediterranean.
Revd Joachim then gave a talk about Paul being kept prisoner with a noble volunteer acting as Paul and getting rather wet from some enthusiastic young people playing the soldiers.
After this we all had an Italian themed picnic tea with plenty of chatting and playing in the sunshine.
With thanks to Revd Joachim and family for allowing us to use their garden.
