GLO | Igniting Communities for Jesus

The congregation at St Probus and St Grace supports ICJ by tithing 5% of their regular to Great Lakes Outreach (GLO). GLO is an internationally respected organisation that currently supports over 25 partners in Burundi.

ICJ seeks to transform the most vulnerable communities in war-torn Northern Burundi, through a holistic ministry – centred on the gospel to empower people both physically and spiritually – breaking the negative cycles of poverty.

Working with local leaders, ICJ provides holistic and practical support to individuals and communities. Actions include agricultural cooperatives, constructing secure brick homes to replace leaky mud huts, discipleship groups, bible distribution, vocational training, teaching literacy, numeracy, microfinance, healthcare support, and farming skills and helping initiate microenterprises.

Our Lay Reader, Sara Edwardes and her husband Paul, visited Burundi where they saw the work of ICJ for themselves. They have become friends with Bosco Mutebutsi, the founder of ICJ, and receive regular updates from him. Bosco also oversees the work of all GLO’s partner organisations in Burundi.

Please feel free to talk to Sara or Paul if you want to know more about ICJ and GLO, or follow the links below.
